MCA Holiday Card

Fall 2023

This is a piece completed while at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. I was able to design and illustrate the annual holiday card for the museum, which was sent to various stakeholders and contributors to the institution. The goal was for the card to feel warm and inviting while maintaining a level professionalism that is a staple of MCA's branding. To illustrate the mittens, I looked back at the museum's icon library to create an image inspired by the style of the brand. It needed to include the notched elements so often seen on MCA product and in their typeface, and it needed to have a level of precision and geometry, two factors that are often considered by the creative team. The typographic decisions for the card were meant to feel understated, balancing the playfulness of the mittens with a formal typesetting. It was a challenge and so much fun to delve into this brand for the first time to create this piece, making sure every decision I made aligned with the visual identity of the museum.

I completed with project with help from the MCA creative team: Suraiya Nathani Hossain, Brian Hedrick, Katie Williams, and Drew Colglazier, I am so grateful for all of their support and guidance!
